that shut down several lanes of highway 280 in san jose this morning. other drivers found the victim's body in the middle of the freeway around 3:15 this morning and called 911. the victim is identified as 39-year-old amanda vente of san jose. officers don't know why she was walking on the freeway and said all she had on her was a set of keys. the chp is asking for the help of anyone who might have witnessed this hit and run. >>> south bay residents have another chance to turn in guns for cash this weekend. santa clara county is hosting its second gun buy-back event tomorrow morning in east san jose. the first one was held earlier this month and paid out over $100,000 to residents bringing in handguns, rifles and assault weapons. tomorrow's event will run from 8:00 a.m. to noon at reid-hillview airport in east san jose. guns should be brought unloaded in the trunk of a car or bed of a truck. event organizers are also inviting gang members to come down and turn in their gang colors. >>> livermore wine makers are celebrating the start of spring but also keeping a close watch on the weather. l

san jose police are still actively looking for a man who fatally stabbed a woman this afternoon. robert handa is on the scene. >> reporter: the search continues for this man that stabbed a woman here just a few hours ago. this is the crime scene where you can see investigators are still removing evidence. now the san jose police department has spread out throughout the neighborhood going door to door, yard to yard, around the residential heading street area. now we're not showing you specific locations so we don't compromise the search. police are asking residents to be on the look out for a dark haired man about 5'8" believed to be a philipino man on the run after what police call a brutal homicide. an ambulance rushed the stabbing victim away just before 3:00 this afternoon but police say she died before she could be treated at the hospital. witnesses say they watched as she apparently argued with a man in the parking lot next to the togo east restaurant. they were horrified as the man suddenly began attacking her with a knife. >> the lady was on the floor and he was just sta

this is still a very active crime scene. during the past hour, san jose police units have been adding more and more patrol units to the neighborhood. now again, a scene that you saw a little bit earlier. students being escorted from peter burnett middle school on heading. and these students were not in a locked down situation. but police thought for their safety they should be moved because they are basically in the midst of the search area. and we're going to be able to show you some of the scene where investigators have been collecting evidence. but we have to tell you that we did get here just minutes after it happened so it was a gruesome scene. an ambulance rushed the stabbing victim away just after 3:00 she died half an hour later. just before that they saw her arguing with a man in the parking lot next to the togo's restaurant. soon her clothes and belongings went flying as the man began stabbing her. we talked to one of the witnesses a togo's employee shortly after she talked to the police officers about the horrifying attack. >> if you can just see him stabbing the girl. she was
